Ronda (Humiston) Weir FNP-BC, is the newest Family Nurse Practitioner in Montezuma County. And will be working at the office of Dr. Hope Barkhurst for Innovation Medical Group, also DBA Southwest Foot and Ankle (which is not affiliated with the local Southwest Memorial Hospital).
Ronda is a fourth-generation family member raised on a ranch in the beautiful Mancos Valley, where she graduated from Mancos High School in 1986.
Ronda has been a nurse for 30 years, receiving her LPN from the San Juan Basin Technical College in 1992. Her Associate Degree (ADN) RN from Pueblo Community College in 1994, and her BSN from Colorado Mesa State University in 2008.
After brief stints in local long term Care facilities, Ronda has spent 23 years of her career working at Southwest Memorial Hospital.
There has been a variety of experiences, including Education Coordinator for 7 years, Cardiac Rehab Nurse, and Medical Surgical Nurse. But for 18 years, the majority of her time and nursing passion was spent in the local Emergency Room.
Ronda married Ray Weir from Arvada, CO in 1988 and raised two wonderful young adults, Brittny Weir-Vigil of Cortez and Tyler Weir of Colorado Springs. While her children were growing up, Ronda volunteered for numerous activities including youth basketball coach, Dolores Booster Club, Montezuma County Fairboard, and was a Montezuma County 4-H Club leader and project leader for over 20 years.
In her spare time she loves to entertain famiily and friends, camping, boating, riding UTV's, and traveling to new places.
After being a devoted mom, supporting her children through school, numerous sports, 4-H, and showing livestock on the local, State and National level. Ronda decided to follow a long-time dream of becoming a provider for her community.
She was accepted into the Graduate Program at Frontier Nursing University of Kentucky in 2018 and continued to work full time as an RN throughout her program. Graduating in June of 2021 with her MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner.
Ronda is very excited to be offering Family Primary Care, as well as Neuropathy treatments, Wound Care, and Joint Injections for her lifelong community.
